National mission for financial inclusion launched in August 2014 — zero-balance bank accounts with RuPay debit cards for the unbanked. By the Ministry's decade-completion release, over 53 crore accounts held more than ₹2.3 lakh crore in deposits, about 56 per cent of them held by women.
